One of the major things that the Godot game engine has lacked compared to Unity and Unreal Engine is a commercial asset store.  This prevents a thriving industry from forming around the Godot Engine and is a major advantage for it's rivals, especially Unity.  Today however the early version of the OFFICIAL (run by Godot Foundation) asset store is here.  In the long run it will replace the Asset Library and will enable developers to sell assets on the store.  Right now it's pretty early on and contains only free assets.

In this video we look at the new Godot Engine Asset Store, at the development roadmap and explore a few of the existing Godot Engine Marketplaces that have popped up over time.

The official Godot Asset Store has launched in early access beta with limited free content. Currently replacing the existing asset library, it will eventually support commercial asset sales. The store features basic functionality like downloads, library management, and reviews, with planned improvements including better search, drag-and-drop installation, paid assets, CLI tools, and mobile support. Several third-party Godot asset stores already exist, but the official store will direct profits to Godot Foundation development.
