<p>After my last article on Data Science disciplines, a friend asked me a very interesting question: “As a beginner, where do I start so that I reach the full potential in matters of skills in the field?”
I just published my answer: a practical method I used to discover where I belong in Data Science
The approach is simple:</p>
<ol>
<li>Collect projects that interest you (aim for 20-30)</li>
<li>Classify them by discipline</li>
<li>Look for patterns in what naturally excites you</li>
<li>Validate through small experiments
For me, 7 out of my saved projects were Computer Vision—specifically applied to football analytics. That clustering wasn’t intentional, but it revealed where my interests actually lie.
The key insight: Your niche = [Discipline] × [Domain You Care About]
