Aeotec announced the Smart Home Hub 2 in partnership with Samsung, the first SmartThings hub to drop Z-Wave support. The new hub offers twice the performance, supports Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter, with local-first communications for offline automation. Users wanting Z-Wave must stick with the V3 hub, which will be discontinued by end of 2026. The dedicated hub provides better performance and range compared to Samsung's integrated SmartThings solutions in TVs and appliances.
