The Metropolitan Museum of Art has released an archive of high-definition 3D scans covering over 140 historical art objects, developed in partnership with Japanese broadcaster NHK. The collection includes items ranging from ancient Egyptian artifacts and marble sarcophagi to Japanese screens and European armor. Users can zoom, rotate, and explore each model, with augmented reality support on smartphones and VR headsets. The scans are freely accessible via the Met's online collection by clicking the 'View in 3D' button on any qualifying artifact page.
