OverType is a lightweight markdown editor that uses a transparent textarea positioned over rendered markdown preview. Unlike complex editors that rely on ContentEditable or virtual DOM, it maintains native textarea functionality while providing WYSIWYG appearance. The solution weighs only 45KB, requires no build process or dependencies, and can be implemented with a simple script tag and a few lines of JavaScript code.
