The Linux kernel now allows AI-written code, but you're on the hook for it

The Linux kernel project now officially permits AI-generated code contributions, but with a clear caveat: human contributors bear full responsibility for any code submitted. AI tools are prohibited from adding Signed-off-by tags, as only humans can legally certify the Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO). Contributors must personally review all AI-generated code, ensure license compliance, and sign off on it themselves. If AI-written code breaks something in the kernel, the blame falls entirely on the human who submitted it.
