The GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) has added support for ALGOL-68, a programming language first announced 57 years ago. This addition is led by Oracle's Jose E Marchesi, and utilizes a parser from the Algol 68 Genie project. While not expected to spur new development in ALGOL, its inclusion is of educational and historical interest.
