I was like “wow, that’s how almost everyone of us started making their first pages in the 90s and he’s still doing it”. This is an awesome nostalgia trip. 🥹 I appreciate that people still use the simplest processes to make sites. Sometimes that’s all you need.
Today I still use a somewhat of a spiritual successor to that process: static site generators. It does automate away some common things, letting you concentrate on the content. The result is more or less the same: a bunch of HTML files that just need a basic HTTP server and you’re done. 🙂
