Expressive E has announced the Osmose CE, a more affordable version of its acclaimed Osmose MPE keyboard that removes the built-in synthesizer to function as a standalone MIDI controller. Available in 49-key ($999) and 61-key ($1,199) configurations, it undercuts both the original Osmose ($1,799) and the competing Roli Seaboard 2 ($1,399). The CE version adds tighter DAW integration with Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, and Logic Pro, plus a new Ctrl-e software suite with over 900 presets. The original Osmose gained fame when Hans Zimmer used an orchestra of them to score Dune: Part Two. Existing Osmose owners will receive the new software features via a future firmware update.
