I am shocked this is even a company and shocked more than 3-5 people are working on such a thing.

Tailwind as a concept is flawed. a 1:1 class wrapper of css. So instead of people learning css and putting styles in its own file, they learn a class wrapper that pollutes the shit out of your code. We threw clean code concept out of the window for what?
In the day of fast adoption of LLMs. Tailwind inflates every request context with these extra classnames making you burn more tokens and require refreshing context more often. Not very Green is it.

I honestly think that the business model of tailwind is just a business model that does not work. And i think that AI has not as big of an impact on that as people might think.
Shadcn is basically what tailwind tries to sell but for free.

I think Tailwind is a GREAT product and I’m embarrassed by the arrogant nature of many of the messages on this thread.
I am also in the process of urgently having to rethink the way that I earn income in this age of Al, after having been retrenched in September last year. I’m enjoying the journey and remaining positive but worrying about finances adds a huge strain to anybody.
Our society is somehow programmed to directly equate your income with your right to exist. And yet we know the important things in life have nothing to do with money, but if you don’t have money you cannot pay for the roof over your head, your medical insurance, the food that you eat or the multiple SaaS subscriptions that you require in order to continue to be in a position to add value and earn income.
I’m very happy to hear that you have received sponsorships from some of the big players and anxious to market myself “out there” — even more so after reading the callous and superior attitude in some of these messages. But I remind myself that what people say about you reveals much more about them than about you.
One thing I think gets lost here is that this isn’t about Tailwind specifically — it’s about how AI is reshaping where value is captured across open source. Many people are navigating this transition right now, often quietly, but nevertheless with anxiety. Empathy costs nothing.
