Code Monkey

Unity announced a major strategic shift at Unite 2025, abandoning Unity 7 in favor of incremental updates to Unity 6. The company will focus on stability and backward compatibility while gradually introducing previously planned features like CoreCLR integration, ECS for all (merging entities and game objects), unified render pipelines, and merged netcode stacks. Key improvements include production verification with real games, platform toolkit for cross-console deployment, enhanced 2D tools, screen space reflections for URP, and editor quality-of-life updates. Unity GUI will remain supported indefinitely rather than being deprecated, and the company emphasized testing with actual production titles to ensure stability.
