Unity's product roadmap from versions 6.4 through 6.8 covers several major areas. The built-in render pipeline is being deprecated in 6.5 and eventually removed, while HDRP will be maintained but not developed further. The Universal Render Pipeline becomes the single unified pipeline, gaining a new real-time global illumination system called SCGI (Surface Caching Global Illumination) arriving in 6.7. Shader compilation improvements via PSO caching and the DXE compiler (up to 50% faster builds) land in 6.6. AI tooling includes scene composition from existing assets, AI-assisted profiling analysis, UI generation, visual annotation input, project checkpoints, and MCP support for external AI tools like Claude and Gemini. Core CLR rolls out incrementally: lifecycle API in 6.5, fast enter play mode default in 6.6, experimental Core CLR desktop player in 6.7, and full ecosystem readiness in 6.8. Web platform improvements include Burst job system support in 6.4, WASM 64-bit (4 GB to 16 GB) in 6.6, and progressive asset loading in 6.7. Finally, Unity is adding in-app purchase inventory import and web shop templates to help developers bypass Apple and Google's 30% fees.
