Dev environments should be cattle, not pets. It looks likely that most development will not be done on localhost in future. Fast gigabit internet is cheap and everywhere (5G or mesh wifi) Dev machines (laptops, tablets, VR) are cheap and have multiday battery life. Your apps build in a second regardless of scale.

One thing that seems to be missed is just the general cost of being connected and doing work with live things oppose to local.
If it isn’t free than it’ll likely only be adopted by a sub-set of the culture. Just a personal observation and preference for local first. The rest of the points seem very valid and intriguing.

Perhaps this will be only approached by really big companies with a lot of revenue and teams of hundreds working on the same project at the time. In latam those prices could not be paid. 10 USD a day to pay for that its kind of half of the daily salary of a dev that its earnings are above average

I think that this is a very good thing, but only for certain projects. If a project requires a lot of storage then it would obviously not work because it would be to costly. But if a project is small enough to fit in a few gigabytes then I think that this would be a really good idea.
