Mastering JavaScript fundamentals is more valuable than chasing specific frameworks. Understanding core concepts like the DOM, async operations, and the web stack makes learning any framework straightforward. Framework debates create analysis paralysis that prevents developers from becoming employable. Focus on building strong foundations first, then choose a framework based on local job market demand rather than hype.

The End of JavaScript Frameworks

What are we considering by fundamentals? You will very quickly see that all these “fundamentals” came from frameworks that were most widely loved and were encouraging best practices.
Today would not exist without UI libraries for a reason. As a matter of fact, mastering one of them is a crucial fundamental since only THAT allows you to switch between them and be adaptable. If you never use one, you can’t go to others.
Getting good fundamentals comes from suffering and realizing why something is bad and good, not a guru distilling knowledge you won’t understand the value of unless you go trough the struggle yourself. Just keep on making stuff and eventually all will come into place.

If you’re wondering why you are reading this, the title is clickbait. The creator’s point is how mastering JavaScript fundamentals is more valuable than chasing specific frameworks.

Knowing the basics is certainly important. How can you understand a Javascript framework without understanding Javascript - so you’re stating the obvious.
As for learning a framework - I disagree that these are not important. Experience of using the framework will make you a much more productive developer if the project is using that framework. Given the choice between hiring a guy with no React experience against another that does - the guy with experience is going to be more valuable to me every time if I’m working on a React project. Failing that, a guy with experience of any framework is going to win. This is why it is important to stay up to date with frameworks.
