But shouldn't Brave, Edge, Opera, or Vivaldi be sufficient?

I wonder what will happen to Mozilla and to Firefox as a result of the current antitrust thing with Google. I’m grateful that the Ladybird project has started and hope it becomes a good option.

What are my choices for something like Firefox, but without the involvement of Mozilla Corp?

I agree so much. I never used Chrome itself because all I was seeing back then is Google trying to spy on me for its own ad engine.
Unfortunately, what I underestimated back then is how Google could be the new Internet Explorer. Therefore I plead guilty of having a Chromium-flavoured web browser for a while: Vivaldi.
I absolutely loves it, and I used it for so long. But even if it is the only other web browser that I used beside Firefox, I switched back to Firefox around a year ago, exactly for those reasons.
Google controls everyting on the web, so much that the web is Google. If they want something, it becomes the standard. You have no other choice.
I’ll stick to my choice though. But still have a Chromium ready, for all the applications note working anymore on Firefox (on Linux, all the M365 are now broken for some months)
It is funny because I just got to CedarDB website, and the registration form is broken on Firefox but working seamlessly on Chrome.
What a time to be alive in the 90’s all over again, I am so happy to live something I never had a chance to live.
