The Context Outside the Code

The Zed editor has introduced extensions that allow users to pull context from various sources directly into conversations with large language models (LLMs) without leaving the editor. The extensions utilize the Model Context Protocol, developed in collaboration with Anthropic, to streamline this process. This new protocol simplifies the integration of context from databases, analytics, and production logs, providing a more efficient workflow for developers. MCP aims to replicate the success of the Language Server Protocol by enabling universal tooling for LLM contexts.
