NASA released stereoscopic 3D imagery from the Artemis 2 launch in MPO format, and the Nintendo 3DS — discontinued 6 years ago — turns out to be one of the best devices to view it natively, thanks to its parallax barrier display. Modern flagship phones and 8K TVs can't display these images as intended, but a kids' handheld from 15 years ago can. The broader point: old hardware doesn't go obsolete, it just becomes niche, waiting for the one use case where its specific design is the perfect fit.
