The mistake he is making, is confusing self-closing tags in HTML, with self-closing tags in a JS framework. They are two completely different paradigms.
Who closes divisions like this: &lt;div /&gt;??

If this is the case, it would be great they make it a bit more consistent like &lt;div /&gt; would actually close.
