ahah, yeah let’s just make payments so seamless that you don’t even know you are losing money, what could go wrong…
Another “visionary” trying to push technology no one asked for, except for the companies trying to sell you stuff.

Huge disagree. Promoting self drive cars + AI driven automation as a goto solution?! The selfdrive and AI are still icky, most industies and companies went under plus losses for firing people in favour of AI (before realisation hit). As of now the products aren’t ready and he shouldn’t be shilling this hard for them, otherwise, he’s leading people off a cliff

This is obviously a simplification but…Until I finally see some truly convenient new invention in the UI/UX world I won’t stop repeating that I still just want the right amount of buttons. Just let me f-ing click a button! I don’t want to have a conversation with my machine, learn some weird f-ing tai chi gestures or engage in some hyper immersive game-like flows that could be replaced with a button. I don’t want the machines to guess my intention nor decide for me. I just want to explicitly click a button and have the job done.
If it’s a vehicle please make it physical so I don’t have to look at it :)

Nothing about payments should be “ambient”. I want my money situation right up front and personal, with no ambiguity. Same with my drivers. Honestly, this guy reminds me of when I take too many hits of the green and sit back to ponder the universe and such. “I don’t even notice I’m in the shower, the water becomes an extension of myself, hiding inside the experience.”

You could “ambientify” payment to a point where the actions become the inputs. This would be then controlled by the physical environment like with the idea of Amazon Shops. So taking stuff to checkout, answering “Pay with debit” during the checkout are the “UI” inputs. But the edge cases are difficult as environments are often multi-use and it would be very very unclear how to get support in some circumstances.
This has a “micro services” feel to it. A promise of simplification and control that just ends up moving the complexity to a place harder to maintain. In micro-services case, it ment moving complexity to network / service level. Cool in theory, expensive in practise vs keeping it in code.
But I case the solution is the full-circle where we go back to brick-and-mortar stores because they give the most granular “ambient” context to the purchase and clear support point.
Or let’s let AI make the decisions for us. “Should you really buy that chocolate?” debate in a store with my AI nanny sounds fun.
