Canva uses Snowflake as the core of their data platform, storing over 25 petabytes of data and executing over 90 million queries a month. To avoid high costs, Canva developed a monitoring system using Snowflake’s account_usage.query_history view, dbt project, and real-time dashboards to track usage and assign costs. They integrate data from AWS S3 and Fivetran for data ingestion and use custom dbt macros for detailed query tracking.
