The 3DFX Voodoo Lives Again In An FPGA

A developer has implemented the 3DFX Voodoo 1 GPU in SpinalHDL for FPGAs, recreating the classic mid-90s 3D graphics chipset in programmable hardware. The project covers the Voodoo's fixed-function architecture, the challenges of implementing dedicated hardware graphics pipelines on FPGAs including bugs and timing issues, and is available as an open source GitHub repository.
