So deep in flow I once forgot to pee (0/10 experience 🚽).</p>

Once real life piles on responsibilities, pulling late-night sprints isn’t “genius mode” anymore… it’s sabotage.</p>

<p>When I started building <strong>Clariti</strong>, I wasn’t chasing focus—I was just messing with a soundscape engine.<br>
But the sounds I created gave me that <em>same</em> tunnel-vision clarity, without the brutal 2 AM hangover.<br>
It felt like I’d bottled up night-owl energy… and made it usable at 2 PM.</p>

Late-night coding sessions can feel incredibly productive due to the quiet environment and deep focus state, but this lifestyle becomes unsustainable when real-life responsibilities emerge. The author shares their experience of transitioning from 2 AM coding marathons to finding sustainable focus solutions during regular hours, leading to the development of Clariti, a soundscape tool designed to recreate that tunnel-vision clarity without the negative consequences of sleep deprivation.

The 2AM “Hyperfocus” Trap

<p>I don’t code “best” at these hours. The more tired my brain gets, the more creative and chilled out it gets. During the day, my brain thinks about too many things at once and it is tougher to really progress creatively, if you need to solve a complex issue.</p>
<p>One of the biggest underrated pluses of doing anything at night is, that everybody else, whoever might annoy &amp; distract you, is already asleep, so you have the biggest piece of mind sitting at your work, since you don’t need to be distracted by the thought of someone distracting &amp; annoying you, as it constantly happens during the day.</p>


<p>Dope app bro - trying it out now. To focus, I typically play My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless on loop. The crazy static blots out distractions for me and works. This has a similar effect on my focus (and helps my Apple Music algorithm not think I’m an insane person)</p>


<p>i’ve been trying to adjust to a day schedule to be better aligned with my partner and kid… but i also have nocturnal hypoglycemia, so for me going to bed early only compounds issues… i thrive better on 3-5 hours of sleep with using my lunch as a dedicated hard core deep sleep nap mid day, i also live on the east coast, and work for a company on the west coast so my working hours are 11-8, this set up actually works for me, and allows me to give my focus to family from 8pm-11pm when they go to sleep, i usually catch my creative &amp; energy wind at 10pm, so 10pm-3am is when I really get into things I want to do, whether it’s a workout, something creative, working out coding issues, or just relax, play gt7, or read a book, this is my time where I thrive, been like this since my teens and now in my 50’s,… but least now I understand my adhd, my nocturnal self, and my partner now understands my circadian rthym is unlike others, my neurodivergent self works best in the middle of the night and my work schedule allows me to navigate this better, although it is mixed in with mandatory lunch naps,</p>
