Hmm, I must be working on the wrong state of the US. Seem so high for web software engineer compare to my rate. I better go and work at those companies.

Where I live (East coast Canada) these seem pretty high. Any local development shop absolutely will not pay even 50% of what is being stated here.
Some larger companies will pay a bit higher than average for the local area but I think for the most part we’re seen as cheaper than a tech shop in the USA and get the job done.
It’s interesting to think that as a developer we have an opportunity to make our boarders invisible in a sense and could get a decent pay while working on interesting projects.
I’m wondering when articles like this come out, are they focused on pay data from the higher tech centers of the US?
