Android Emulator version 36.5 introduces a new networking stack that enables zero-configuration peer-to-peer connectivity between multiple Android Virtual Devices (AVDs). Previously, connecting multiple emulators required complex manual port forwarding. Now AVDs on the same host automatically share a virtual network, supporting Wi-Fi Direct, Network Service Discovery, and cross-platform consistency across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use cases include multi-device app testing, CI pipelines, Android XR/AI glasses companion apps, and Automotive/Wear OS connectivity flows. The feature is enabled by default and available via the Android Studio SDK Manager.
