Zed's Agent Panel now supports Terminal Threads, allowing developers to run terminal-based AI agents like Claude Code, Amp, or Codex as managed threads in the sidebar alongside other agent work. This extends the existing Parallel Agents feature to cover terminal workflows, not just Zed's built-in agent or ACP-connected agents. Each terminal thread is scoped to the project, updates its title automatically, and supports the same keyboard navigation and notifications as regular agent threads. The feature is also practically significant because Anthropic is moving Agent SDK usage on subscription plans to a limited credit system starting June 15, making ACP-based Claude Code 15-30x more expensive for heavy users — Terminal Threads become the cost-effective alternative for running Claude Code within Zed using an existing Claude subscription.
