Temporal has partnered with OpenAI to introduce sandbox support for AI agents built with the OpenAI Agents SDK. This allows agent tool calls to execute on isolated, remote machines (sandboxes) rather than locally, improving safety when agents perform arbitrary file system operations or run commands. Using Temporal workflows, developers can switch between sandbox environments — including Daytona — and even transfer file system state between sandboxes. The demo shows an agent running a Codex model creating files and spinning up a FastAPI server entirely within a sandboxed environment.
