MIRA is an open-source persistent AI entity system that maintains continuous conversation through autonomous context window management and memory decay mechanics. Memories automatically expire unless referenced, tools self-register and activate on-demand to avoid token waste, and the architecture uses event-driven modules for extensibility. Built primarily with Claude Code over 8 months, it runs on Claude Opus 4.5 (though supports other models) and includes tools for contacts, email, weather, web search, and document management. The system requires no manual memory curation and allows zero-shot tool creation by dropping files into a folder.
