Laravel is also anOpen-source network that follows a model-view-controller design pattern. Both use PHP as their programming language. They have multi-user and multi-language content.

“Better” is in the eye of the beholder. As a user of both Symfony and Laravel I can’t say which one is “Better”. It all depends on the context.
It is true that Symfony is extendable, but the same is true for Laravel. The numerous packages for lavavel prove that fact.
It is true that Symfony saves time, but the same is true for Laravel. Laravel includes a User system out the box for instance, which you’d still have to build / pull in from somewhere else.
The point is, as always, “it depends”. It always depends on: your experience, your needs, your values, your preferences.
Let’s stop versus-ing these frameworks. Just pick what you feel comfortable with, share your knowledge for those that might be interested, but never assume your point of view on the topic is canon.

I find Symfony far better than Laravel, especially when it comes to working with Forms. Laravel brings this back to the early 2000s
