Spanish Guardia Civil has arrested four suspected members of Anonymous Fénix, an Anonymous offshoot, for conducting DDoS attacks on government ministries, political parties, and public institutions following the 2024 DANA floods. Two arrests were made in May 2025, with two more last week in Ibiza and Madrid. The group, which had a small social media presence (under 700 X followers), claimed the government bore responsibility for the flood tragedy. Authorities seized the group's X and YouTube accounts and closed its Telegram channel. Anonymous Fénix had been active since 2023, using social media to recruit hacktivists.
