A survey credits engineering teams with keeping cloud costs under control, but there is room for improvement. The survey reveals that 51% of respondents believe costs are higher than they should be, 81% said their cloud costs are 'about where they should be' with engineering ownership, and 88% see significant variance in actual cloud spend versus forecast. Lack of cloud cost visibility impacts the ability to carry out roles and there is concern about job security if cloud costs surge. Only a third of respondents can accurately allocate cloud costs.
