npmx.dev launches its alpha release as a modern, community-built npm package browser that consolidates install size, vulnerability data, dependency warnings, download trends, and more into a single interface. Storybook and Chromatic are collaborating with npmx to surface live UI component stories directly on package pages, letting developers preview component libraries before installing. Package authors can opt in by adding a storybook.url field to their package.json. Chromatic is also sponsoring npmx with free visual and accessibility snapshot testing for every PR. The project was started by Daniel Roe and Matias Capeletto, has grown to 150+ contributors and 2,000+ GitHub stars, and is fully open source.
