Stop telling me to use Obsidian

Obsidian is not the be-all end-all. It’s the right tool for the job. Stop 💩 on Obsidian.

<li>Do you have the time to customize an Obsidian build? Yes ➡️ Obsidian. No ➡️ Notion.</li>

If even one of these says, Notion, you need to choose Notion. For most people, about 55%-65% and perhaps even more Notion is the only viable solution.
I don’t share my notes. I want whatever I write to stay there and not to be used for ads. I use Mermaid graphs as a developer and Notion plugins are not perfect. They’re not bad, but they are plugins. I don’t use tables. I also have the time to improve my Obsidian note system over time. Not in a rush. So Obsidian works for me… and I still have and use Notion, for saving recipes in a database, because I can share them easily with my wife.
As the person says. It’s not a team-collaboration tool. It’s a personal note-taking tool. Nobody said anything else. Obsidian is amazing for what it’s good at.

Obsidian all the way here, I version control my vault and couldn’t be happier for taking my own notes.

This feels like rage-bait for views. Obsidian is only growing stronger, especially with how much GenAI outputs markdown files. Pair that with GenAI and Obsidian becomes a powerful PKM, or really whatever you need from a note system, even if it’s just cleanly rendering your markdown files.

I used to like Theo when I first discovered him, but oh my fucking God he is so obnoxious now. For what it’s worth, you can achieve the same workflow with obsidian without paying $1000 a year.

When I take 20 to 30 minutes out of my day to watch a Dev YouTuber - I want that to benefit me and my ability to perform in my job one way or another. It may have been this way for quite some time and I just never realized it, but it’s crystal clear to me lately that Theo’s content is 100% self-serving. I don’t have time for that.
