Valve is testing a Framerate Estimator feature in the Steam beta that predicts FPS performance for games based on a user's actual hardware. Using anonymized, opt-in data from users with similar components, it displays an estimated FPS number and graph before purchase. The feature is initially focused on SteamOS devices like the Steam Deck but will also benefit lower-end and mid-range PC gamers trying to gauge whether a demanding game will run well on their system.
