Valve has released a new Steam Linux client beta introducing SteamRT3, which allows the Steam client itself to run inside the Steam Runtime container — the same container used by Steam games. This aims to provide a more consistent experience across Linux distributions. The SteamRT3 beta also updates the client to 64-bit. It is distributed alongside the regular Steam beta and is opt-in via a setting in the Steam beta client.
