Drew DeVault announces the public reveal of the Hare programming language and introduces several projects built with it: Helios (an x86_64 microkernel now entering userspace), Himitsu (a secret/password storage system with SSH key integration), btqd (a bittorrent queue daemon), and scheduled (a cron replacement). Hare itself saw over 300 commits this month, including an OpenBSD port, new crypto modules (blowfish, bcrypt, x25519), JSON encoding, and improvements to regex, bufio, net, and datetime. SourceHut work focused on account data import/export via the hut tool.
