Kubernetes was designed for stateless applications, but real-world workloads require state management. A new research framework called MS2M (MicroService Stateful Migration) with Forensic Container Checkpointing enables live migration of stateful services by capturing runtime state and restoring it elsewhere, potentially solving the downtime challenge when moving databases, AI pipelines, and other stateful workloads across clusters or regions.
