The 'State of Devs 2025' survey aims to explore the developer ecosystem beyond technical trends by asking about the personal beliefs, activities, and hopes of developers. The 15-minute survey, which is optional, targets anyone involved in development or engineering, regardless of experience. Results will be freely accessible online after running from April 15 to May 15, 2025.

I can tell you the state of devs without survey. We are fucked. Because we let our profession to be just a scam. By letting crazy managers in, by letting financial bubble in, by letting AI slop in, by listening to crazy hype bros, by creating useless software, useless devices nobody will use. World need professionals that are solving specific problem of humanity. But instead, we closed our potental and sold our brains to bunch of smiling idiots.

Question is will the result have any effect on the state of devs in 2026?

Anonymous personal surveys don’t promote or encourage anything except possible introspection regarding the question topics. That assumes the person answering takes the survey seriously at all. Hard identification encourages minimal participation and probable disingenuous answers to avoid being tagged as a problem or feeding their work place gristmill.

Done with mine, almost cried doing the survey. Hopefully the guys can compile the overall statistics of how all the devs are doing.
