Bethesda Game Studios has announced Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 7, marking the game's first appearance on Sony's platform. The release coincides with the Free Lanes update — the largest update since the game's 2023 debut — and the new Terran Armada story DLC. PS5 Pro owners get two performance configurations (Pro Performance Mode and Pro Visual Mode) plus DualSense integration. The Free Lanes update, free for all players, introduces interplanetary travel via Cruise Mode, new locations, a Moon Jumper vehicle, enemy modifiers, X-Tech resources, outpost improvements, and new crew members. The Terran Armada DLC adds a new questline, characters, and locations centered on a conflict with robotic forces. The base game will be priced at $49.99, and Premium Edition holders on Xbox or Steam receive the DLC at no extra cost.
