Starbreeze Entertainment has partnered with VICE Studios to develop film and television adaptations of the Payday franchise. The move is part of a broader strategy to expand Payday into a full entertainment platform and attract new audiences. A previous 2023 partnership with Stockholm Syndrome for a live-action adaptation appears to have fallen through, as that company's website is no longer active. Meanwhile, Starbreeze continues to struggle with Payday 3's underperformance since its September 2023 launch, with Payday 2 outperforming it in Q4. The studio also made layoffs late last year after scrapping a Dungeons & Dragons project to refocus on Payday.
