Over the last two months I’ve been running selected IO intensive servers off the the SSD storage cluster, these hosts include (among others) our:

Primary Puppetmaster
Gitlab server
Redmine app and database servers
Nagios servers
Several Docker database host servers

Reliability
We haven’t had any software or hardware failures since commissioning the storage units.
During this time we have had 3 disk failures on our HP StoreVirtual SANs that have required us to call the supporting vendor and replace failed disks.

A two-month production report on migrating IO-intensive servers (Puppet, GitLab, Redmine, Nagios, Docker DB hosts) to an SSD storage cluster. Key findings include zero hardware/software failures, 300-500% reduction in VM IO latency, eliminated IOWait issues, and unexpected benefits like decreased network latency and faster SSH logins. Compared to HP StoreVirtual SANs which suffered 3 disk failures in the same period.
