Spotify announced a new Taste Profile feature at SXSW, launching in beta for Premium users in New Zealand. For the first time, users can view and edit the algorithmic model that drives their personalized recommendations, including Discover Weekly, Made For You playlists, and Spotify Wrapped. Users can fine-tune preferences using natural language prompts to request more or less of certain vibes. The feature addresses long-standing complaints about recommendation quality being degraded by shared accounts, kids' listening habits, and unwanted tracks like sleep sounds. Previously, users could only exclude individual tracks or playlists. The feature will expand to other markets after the New Zealand beta.
