Spotify's co-CEO revealed that their top developers haven't manually written code since December, relying instead on AI tools. The company uses an internal system called "Honk" with Claude Code that enables engineers to deploy bug fixes and new features remotely via Slack—even during their commute. This AI-driven approach helped Spotify ship over 50 features in 2025 and accelerate product development significantly. The company also emphasized building unique music-related datasets that can't be commoditized by other LLMs.

For the Claude code it’s great achievement that they are able to write a Spotify app’s code, however from company perspective I see it big red flag.
Your top developers are the ones who are already being replaced by AI. Either they have very small job role or impact else they don’t know what they are saying.

They “stopped writing code manually”? Somehow I really doubt that. I take any announcements like this with a grain of salt as a lot of businesses know mentioning AI is free investor money right now

I can believe that, it shows. Terrible application and terribly slow. They were already making the music by AI, why not the code, too? Watch how it falls.

I think developers will be the next billionaires with the amount of bad code they will have to clean.
