SPJCN II: What's Taking So Long?

Java 9 was delayed again, with general availability pushed to July 2017. The primary reason is Project Jigsaw, the Java module system. Key unresolved issues include strong encapsulation (especially reflection across module boundaries, which breaks many existing hacks) and reliable dependencies (handling compile-time-only or optional runtime dependencies). The Jigsaw team is still iterating on design and implementation based on community feedback. The newsletter also briefly covers JPA/Hibernate content on SitePoint and links to JavaOne resources.
