Spinnaker Support, a US-based third-party ERP support provider, has formally launched in South Africa with backing from Patrice Motsepe's African Rainbow Capital (ARC). The company offers enterprises an alternative to costly SAP and Oracle vendor support contracts, claiming savings of 55-65% against OEM rates. Telkom is cited as a customer that saved close to R800-million over five years by switching Oracle support to Spinnaker. The company operates a Johannesburg support centre and plans to expand into open source database support (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB) in coming quarters. CEO Mathew Stava also predicts ERP systems will shrink in relevance as agentic AI matures, though SAP and Oracle are actively embedding AI into their own platforms to counter that trend.
