SpendRule secured $2M in seed funding led by Abundant Venture Partners to expand its AI-powered invoice validation platform for healthcare systems. The startup automates contract compliance checking for non-barcoded purchases like maintenance and janitorial services, helping hospitals avoid overspending by validating invoices against negotiated contracts before payment. Founded by healthcare and fintech veterans Chris Heckler and Joseph Akintolayo, the platform integrates with existing ERP and accounts payable systems and is already being used by major health systems including Kettering Health, MemorialCare, and MUSC Health.
