SpaceX scrubbed the first launch of its third-generation Starship V3 rocket system from Starbase, Texas, just seconds before liftoff due to a hydraulic pin failure on the launch tower arm. A retry is planned for Friday at 5:30 p.m. local time. This is Starship's 12th flight attempt and the first since October 2025. The V3 upgrade includes redesigned third-generation Raptor engines with more thrust, improved propellant leak prevention, and a booster design easier for the launch tower to catch. The launch is financially significant as SpaceX recently filed for an IPO and relies on Starship to support its $11 billion Starlink business. This particular flight will not attempt booster or ship recovery, with both performing soft water landings instead.
