Software Developers are the creative masterminds behind the smartphone applications, the apps you use to track your workouts, and the games that kids are addicted to. Software Engineers, as it says in the name, are the professionals who focus on ensuring the effectiveness of the software, its development, and that it is fully functioning. There is a very increased demand for software engineering, but the supply is not matching.

Software Developer vs Software Engineer

One more opinion to add to the mix. I’ve heard so many already. One is that Developers focus on apps, while Engineers focus on embedded systems and work closer to devices. Another is that engineers are more disciplined than developers who are more disciplined than just programmers/coders. It’s all the same. We all have a very big range of skills and experience.
I can basically scratch off most of both of those roles that this article lists off. I have a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, so I am an actual “engineer” through my education. I think people who have such an education, should call themselves software engineers, while people who just complete a four week bootcamp or get into the business by learning stuff themselves, are programmers/developers, but this is so… opinionated. This is such a new industry that we don’t have standardized titles and we move at such speeds that by the time someone figures out some, we already have people calling themselves “DevOps engineers” like that’s a title…

I’m not sure … even if I read the article, at the end all of Us sometimes are creating Software/Apps for end Users called “Product” and other times we are on “Software for developers” In both cases projects could be more complex than others where We implement more software engineer principles/patterns/structures etc.
I think this term difference could be “unnecessary”
