Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) is an emerging open standard aimed at standardizing semantic layer configurations across data and AI tooling. Semantic layers provide business-friendly, consistent data interpretation and are increasingly used to combine agentic AI reasoning with rule-based definitions. OSI focuses on standardization, interoperability, and extensibility. The standard is available on GitHub and its partner ecosystem is growing. Snowflake Semantic Views already implement related capabilities like verified queries, which improve prompt response accuracy in agentic AI workflows. Keeping OSI in mind is recommended for Data & AI strategy planning.
