Migrating Snowflake Cortex Agents between accounts is more complex than it appears because agents depend on semantic views, Cortex Search Services, stored procedures, and underlying tables. A migration tool was built using React, FastAPI, and Snowpark Container Services (SPCS) to automate the process: it parses agent specs to identify dependencies, visualizes them as a graph, extracts DDL for all objects, and remaps references (schema names, warehouse names) before recreating objects in the correct order in the target account. Notably, the entire application was generated using Snowflake Cortex Code with iterative prompts rather than manual coding. Key lessons include the importance of capturing semantic view extension metadata, handling hardcoded warehouse references, and using SPCS JWT tokens for dynamic account detection.
