SmartBear has expanded its API lifecycle management platform with a revamped Swagger Catalog offering unified API visibility and governance, plus Swagger Contract Testing with drift detection to verify APIs behave as specified in OpenAPI contracts. Later this quarter, SmartBear plans to add an updated API editor, AI-powered API generation, context-aware documentation, Spectral-based governance enforcement, an MCP Server, and expanded multi-protocol support including OpenAPI 3.1, AsyncAPI 3.0, and GraphQL. The updates address growing API management challenges driven by AI agents' dependency on APIs, increased deployment frequency, rogue and zombie APIs, and security risks from ungoverned APIs.
